A message from Hong Kong Ambassador Jackalyn C

Hi guys, doesn’t time past quickly! Because now it is my 2nd blog!

Over these last few weeks, I’ve had friends who asked me problems and then – you know what I used to solve it? – MATHS! Our school had a World Classroom trip. It’s when we go to different countries on an airplane, without our parents. I had to use Maths to help me calculate how much money I had used and how much I had left! Below is a picture of me in Taiwan with (a fake) Mona Lisa!

On World Maths Day, I had the experience of how to be brave to stand up and speak in front of many people. I walked around the school for about an hour going in and out of classrooms, I talked about World Maths Day and its website. Being an ambassador is certainty not easy.  Maths is fun and exciting! Speed is not the importance of Maths but accuracy! Keep on playing, I’ll join in as soon as possible!

Wait for my 3rd blog! See you then! Below is a picture of my class having a good time in Taiwan in front of the Jiang Jie Shi Memorial Hall.

Helen Wilson Public School, Canada

We found another fantastic article on students from Helen Wilson Public School in Canada who had a great World Maths Day 2010. Max W (left) came 8th in the world in the 5-8 category as you can see on the Hall of Fame! Click on the picture to read the whole article.

Parkfield Community School, UK

We came across this school’s most excellent website with a great World Maths Day feature. Hats off to Parkfield Community School in Saltley, Birmingham for putting so much effort into World Maths Day 2010. Our favourite photo has to be a Dalek from the TV series Dr Who holding a World Maths Day Poster.  Check it all out for yourself at the link below:

We were delighted to visit Netherhall School in Cambridgeshire UK this week to congratulate Daniel W and his classmates for their huge success on World Maths Day! Daniel came 10th in the UK and 56th in the world for his age category, beating thousands of competitors and earning over 25,000 points during the event by working at lightning speed!

Congratulations to Daniel and everyone at Netherhall! We look forward to seeing you in the number one spot next year!
