A message from Canada Ambassador, Kierra G
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick thank you to the organizers for World Math Day! Our carnival was awesome! “Math is fun!” was the biggest comment from the participants.
“It was all about math and it was good!”
“Math is exciting”.
“We learned we need math for a lot of things”.
“It was nice of [the grade fours] to help us with our math”
“It was worth missing our gym class”
“The questions were fun!” said the grade two class.
Top Northland School Division No. 61 prizes are: $100 for top score in each of the four divisions, $75 for second in each of the four divisions and $50 for third in each of the four divisions. [With prize money from our AISI grant]. News about the winners coming soon!!
I was flown to Calgary and had dinner with the other ambassadors from Canada and it was really cool! We went everywhere in a white limousine and had dinner at the Calgary Tower! Did you know that it spins around when you eat? I met people from Ontario and Alberta and Saskatchewan. We went to Breakfast TV where two of the ambassadors got to go on TV and play on the World Math Day site. We went to a school and we practiced on their computers for World Math Day. After that we went to dinner in the Calgary Tower. I had soup and fries. We were close to the windows and I could look outside when we ate. The trip was exciting.
As ambassador, it has been a lot of work but it also has been fun. I hope you enjoyed World Math Day.
Special thanks,
Kierra G

Dear Sir/Madam,
Hello! It’s nice to meet you!I think the world maths day competition is fun.We can compete with other people in the world.I love maths very much!I think I will join next year!(And hope that we can break this year’s record next time!)
What is your highest point in the practice(practise)?
I got 74 points in a round……
let me do some quick calculations, that’s around 1.23 questions in a minute.
It’s not a “too fast speed”,I even met someone that got 79 points in a round!(That’s an amazing score for me!)
But not everyone calculates so fast.I may see other 3 competitors got under 10 marks in total.(I have never done such things to myself except I’ve just got 8 marks accidentally with an “strike-out” when there was 48 seconds left. What an accident-_-)
Last question,What do “Team (country name)” means?Do it means the country’s team(the ones that were trained by the country or they are the country’s representative)?
I’m looking forward for your reply.
your sincerely,
clayton
