Good Luck from Scottish Ambassador Olivia G

Hi I’m Olivia one of the new UK WMD Ambassadors! I go to Hamilton College and am very proud and thrilled with my new Ambassador role!

I have a team rearing and ready to go. They consist of Erin, Sharan, Mary and Michael and we’re all really excited about getting stuck in! My team and I are in the midst of our plans for the event so I am not ready to reveal anything just yet! However we have been sticking posters at local places like sports centres and shopping centres. We have been interviewed and have had our photos taken by the local newspaper! We are hoping to go live with Burkina Faso in Africa and encourage them to participate in WMD too! We are going to visit local schools and spread the word about World Maths Day to make this a record breaking event!

We may have had extreme cold temperatures in Scotland this winter but it’s definitely heating up at Hamilton College! I have just announced that whoever can come up with the most impressive place to put a poster shall win a prize! We have had some brilliant suggestions already! I hope to see lots of people from the UK in that Hall of Fame! So tell all your friends and family to join us at World Maths Day and help represent your country’s team in this global event!

Wherever you are, whatever country you are representing Good Luck!

Well done, Olivia, on making a great start to your role as a Mathletics Ambassador. Your school is very proud of you. As well as the posters, photos and coverage on websites and in the local press I am delighted that your contact with Margaret Mitchell, MSP has led to her planning to meet you at Hamilton College on Monday. That will give more photo opportunities and she will leave knowing more about this so that she can tell other MSPs. Keep up the good work!
