The World Maths Day Epidemic @ Cempaka Damansara, Malaysia by Ambassador Alexis L

It’s your friendly neighborhood Malaysian ambassador here (or just Alexis, really) and here in Cempaka the World Maths Day fever has reached dizzying heights.

I’ll have you know that our Mid-semester examinations were put on hold just for World Maths Day. For two whole days.

Nice, huh?

Well anyway, since the competition officially started we’ve been tapping away nearly non-stop. Right now we’re in the school hall, cluttered together with our laptops, and we’ve been playing and playing and playing and I think by tomorrow we’re all going to go slightly mad, but still we’re quite enjoying the process.

I think I’ll show you the pictures so you know what I mean.

Up onstage we have our own personal scoreboard for keeping track of our highest scorers:

And here are some of them World Maths Day-ing:

Some of us are even staying back in school till seven today and tomorrow to compete. That means 11 whole hours of nothing but World Maths Day.

Can you say Epidemic?

Projected just above us is the official world maths day rankings scoreboard, and we’ve been creeping up slowly to take our favourite places (namely, top and all the ten spots below it). Our sister and brother schools, CILC (cempaka International Ladies College) and the Cheras Campus are also competing alongside us, so watch out for us, the teams from Cempaka schools – aiming for a winning streak for two years in a row.

Till the next post (sometime soon!)

Alexis
