Congratulations from Tatiana D, Australian Ambassador and Gold medal winner for 2010!
Hey everyone!
So, we have finished celebrating another World Maths Day! How it has flown by! I guess the saying “time flies when you’re having fun” is really true!
Did you have fun? I know I did! It was great playing so many people from all around the world, some of the countries I came across were Bosnia, Cyprus, Honduras, Jersey, Ecuador, Turkey, Mexico, Malaysia, USA, Hong Kong and Australia.
HUGE congratulations must go to the 3 World Champions of 2010: 5-8 years: Avit P (Thailand), 9-13 years: Kaya G (Australia) and 14-18 years: David A (Australia). Well done to both David and Kaya who are back-to-back champions, winning in 2009 also.
Competing in the 14-18 years category myself, I want to particularly congratulate David A for his remarkable efforts, and for continuing his reputation as being a fierce competitor in the World Maths Day arena.
To all the Aussies out there, a big congratulations for your efforts! All together, 20 very talented Australians made the hall of fame over all 3 age categories, so well done!
As I mentioned in one of my earlier blogs, I have loved hearing about how World Maths Day is being celebrated through the blogs of the other ambassadors through parties and activity days. It was amazing to hear from Alexis L talking about the involvement of her school Cempaka Damasara! Did you see the photos of all the students in the hall competing in World Maths Day? If not, I suggest you take a look, it’s unbelievable! It was also great to see the students interacting via the comments on the blogs.
Huge thanks must go to the incredible World Maths Day team for organising and hosting the event so superbly. Thanks to Tim, John and Liz for leading the World Maths Day Team, who did a fantastic job throughout the competition, particularly when there were some technical issues and managed to resolve them promptly.
Thanks also to Harry and the design team who created the awesome World Maths Day app. Special thanks also goes to the World Maths Day team in South Africa who did a brilliant job hosting this year’s competition.
Many students broke individual records, some classes and schools broke records too, and 3 students were crowned world champions through WMD ’10. But guess what’s even cooler? We all broke two records together! No matter how little or big your contribution to World Maths Day this year was, we all managed to break World Records (note the plural!) together! Every single question answered by each and every student is important and helped shape our record.
We may be in different countries, in different continents, we may have huge bodies of water separating us, but through World Maths Day we are able to unite through maths, and we have a whole lot of fun too! I really, really hope that you’ve all had a great time taking part this year and take part next year too!

well done for winning. My friend from school turned out to be 4 in the world she is amazing ! congratulations to everyone who partisipated. Hope you do well next year ♥
Hi it’s Kaya and I have got to say congratulations! You and David were both fierce competitors in the High School Section and you guys both did great! By the way did you see me in the 9-13 ages category? I came 1st place with 43,007 points. Well, I better go! Bye
Thank-you David, it was great playing against you. Can’t wait until next time!!
Thanks Ash! Haha I’m glad you like the blog, I can’t wait until next year either!!!!!
To M. Bashar: students who are in the top ten in the Hall of Fame receive Gold Medals (in each age category).Hope this helps!
My apologies Antonio! I really did mean to mention the iPod section and the teachers/parents section, and how incredibly high the scores on each hall of fames were! I played a few games on the iPod during the comp, and I couldn’t believe how fast everyone was going! The iPod-playing mathletes were of a very high standard, so you should be very proud that you came first
required Gold Medal list with student name..
best regards

Tats CONGRATULATIONS on getting the Gold Medal!!! You are actually a national asset! I also love this blog – ‘We may be in different countries, in different continents, we may have huge bodies of water separating us, but through World Maths Day we are able to unite through maths, and we have a whole lot of fun too!’ It’s so true! I can’t believe WMD is over now but I can’t wait for next year
Does the new iPod section also count for this? I got first in the iPod section…
thank you you were a great competitor to it was very difficult to beat you.
