About
World Maths Day is the world’s largest education event where students compete in real time against other students from around the world, using the World Maths Day website.
In 2010, World Maths Day will be held on Wednesday 3rd March 2010, and more than two million students between 5-18 years from more than 200 countries are expected to log on take part in the free global event. Johannesburg will be flying the flag as host city for the 2010 event.
The best thing about World Maths Day is that you don’t have to be a mathematical genius to get involved. World Maths Day is designed for students of all ages, backgrounds, and all levels of ability. Students are encouraged to get involved in maths and ‘have a go’, and even have the chance to be a part of setting a world record – it’s free and all you need is internet access.
You can also take part in World Maths Day from your iPhone and iPod Touch. The World Maths Day mobile app now lets you answer questions while you’re out and about and still have them added to your online score.

I liked this years format. For one reason you din’t have to stay up ’til just about midnight. Which is what me and my brother did last year. And another thing I liked the age groups. Though I can’t remember if they did that last year or not. And I actually played against my brother last year but I struck out.
hi brody,
congratulations.my high scores were.
lvl1-75
lvl2-71
lvl3-88
lvl4-80
lvl5-69
Hi Michael
No I did not now that you placed 7th in the American Math Challenge Thats Great. I ended up not doing the whole week of the American Math Challenge. By the way Doing 21/2 hours math sounds great I might try that.
And another thing I do not do any Homeschooling classes.
could any one please give me the rank of top 10 in spain on world math day 2010
Hi Kamie,
You probably know already that I placed 7th in the AMC.
Maybe that might let them know how much I was into it. Yes I am going to email them and I will let you know if they change it.
And yes, homeschooling is great. And you can specialize in classes that you are into. For example, I did Algebra 1 for 2 1/2 hours today because I love it so much!
Hi Michael
I read your comment about emailing the AMC. I think that would be great. Last year was my first year doing the AMC and this year is going to be my last year. If you email them would you mind letting me know if they are going to change the age level? I also noticed that you were homeschooled. So am I and I love it.
Yo David A I am world no.4 ,Kai yuan Y from Wesley Methodist School and I’m going to Australia tomorrow for holiday. I hope to meet you in Torquay Bay man! How do you complete the verification of results from WMD? My school hasnt received any mail or email from WMD yet.
Ciao.
You are right David.
Sometimes you get a whole string of multiplication, division and operations on those levels.
But still 30 as your average is amazing!
I joined Mathletics a couple days ago. I just woke up and I went from first in the world to second while I was asleep. I have already improved much.
Well I am pretty sure if they add another age bracket they will change the rules. Hopefully not. It was fun facing you all at 11:00 at night. I told my mom, “The guys from GA are still up! I need to play some more if I want to win this.” I was very bad at the beginning of the competition, then I got much better. I never practiced before the competition, which really hindered me.
I’ll be looking for your brother if we can’t play next year.
for lvl 4 and 5 my highscores were just about fluke most of my scores were around 30 on the them but on those i got a string of really easy ones..
Yes, Jordan is eligible this year, his final year and 2nd also. He wants me to help him if they don’t let us play it, so he could get first, but I’ll see.
Wow David, your high scores are high.
I saw a picture of you, do you use the number pad with two hands?! I use mine with one.
My high score for level 4 was 30. (I placed 94th in the 14-18 category) How do you get 50?
Yeah, they should let us in.
Next year if they allow us to play in the AMC, I am going to get first. FULL STEAM HARD CORE NOTHING BUT THE COMPETITION FOR THE WHOLE WEEK!
During the competition my mom saw you two and said,”those two must be brothers.” And she was right!
In the AMC: some details about me…
1. The highest score I got was in the hundreds.
2. People I enjoyed competing against:
a. Austin (cause he was in first)
b. Jordan B and Julien B (cause you guys are fellow Georgians and homeschoolers
c. Hard opponents Alexander K, and Jonathan P
Alek K, Kelvin W, and Christopher P had never beaten me.
Will your brother Jordan be able to play in the AMC next year?
I am going to email the AMC this week, so let’s see what happens.
Please Reply.
P.S. I wished I could have faced you too. I thought you were in the 9-13 since the majority of the AMC was in that category.
Yes he did it too, don’t know what he scored, he was in the 9 to 13 age group. i think he had 11,000 something. I will see if his paper has an email address on it fop the AMC. They should let us play, I mean it’s a lead-up event.
I saw at 1 point you were 15th, so I know you were doing good. I just wish I could have faced you here.
In the AMC, my hardest opponent was Austin, then Alek K, Kelvin W, and Christopher P.
Please Reply!!!
Hey Julien, thanks for replying!
Yes I am homeschooled and I LOVE it. Of course I thank my mom for it.
I am going to email the American Math Challenge. I thought of that a couple days ago. Funny you did too.
If we both email them, maybe they will change the limits. That would be AWESOME! I actually know one of the director’s email address so I will send one to him and the staff. (I know his because I was in the top 25 and earned a certificate. I am pretty sure your brother Jordan might know too.)
I could have placed higher in the American Math Challenge. I started a day later, I had a sleepover, and since I am homeschooled I didn’t take the week off. I thought I would be very bad at the competition, but once I found out I was pretty good, I was bombarded with “other” activities. My mom said if they change the limits, she would let me take off the whole week of school! I faced Austin B about a hundred times and probably only lost 8 times, although he was always nipping my heels.
My hardest opponent over all was Alexander K.
By the way, I was 6th in WMD on Tuesday!
Please reply!
P.S. Did your brother compete in WMD?
well since everyone is posting there high scores here are mine. ( i won the 14 – 18 division)
level 1 – 89
level 2 – 85
level 3 – 89
level 4 – 50
level 5 – 48
My records for the competition I am 14…
Level 1 59
Level 2 54
Level 3 61
Level 4 26
Level 5 22
I finished just outside the leaderboard what is subject to possible change and I hope it does lol!
Because my total score was 16784 and 100th was 16805. I got to many strike outs this year and that really cost me
Anyways Hope you all did well
I wanted to go on the leader board once world maths day started but I had alot of homework to do and I played only 70 games, sigh. I hope that next year world maths day starts on the weekends.
Who knows, maybe there’s another competition for us older guys to do. By the way, Michael are you homeschooled? I am and enjoy it very much. But maybe we can email them to change the rules.
I am out of the top 100, only scored about 13,000. I was in the top 100 for like 1 hour on Tuesday, and then it snowed so I stopped playing.
Yeah, we remember you very well. You were very good. I’ll try to get my mom to get mathletics as well. I hope they change the age limits. Maybe I will email them. I mean it’s a lead-up event. Or I could help Jordan B. ( my brother)
Man you should really play world maths day on ipod touch/iphone its very hard to control and great thanks to the whole of Australia and world.
Alright here they are! My WMD high scores! I am 14 so they are…
Level 1: 56
Level 2: 53
Level 3: 72
Level 4: 30 (I shocked myself when I got that much!)
Level 5: 23
Nice to know a fellow American from Georgia competed.
My mom is purchasing Mathletics (because I was in the HOF) for me so I will be very fast for the next competition.
Hey Julien B!
Yes this is Michael D from the American Math Challenge who placed 7th! I remember facing you, you were pretty good! That competition was more fun than this one. Congratulations to you for placing high on the HOF during the American challenge. As of the rules right now, I won’t be able to do the American Math Challenge next year, due to being to old. But hopefully they will consider changing the age limits.
Well, I am elated with successes during this competition. I placed 94th! (In the 14-18 group)
Please reply!
P.S. Tell your brother I said hi!
Well I finished my 500 games with about 18,000 points with a little over two hours left. Congratulations to Kaya G who looks like he will win with 12 minutes remaining in World Math Day. Below is my high scores for each level
Level 1-53
Level 2-47
Level 3-70
Level 4-65
Level 5-57
Well Domagoj, you could try sending an email to the world maths day team or something, but i’m not too sure how that will go.
Good luck
Also, congrats to Kaya as it looks like nobody will catch him with about 2 hours remaining. Those are some pretty huge scores and he deserves to be world champion again.
Here are my high scores;
Level 1-42
Level 2-41
Level 3-48
Level 4-11
Level 5-7
Compared to you guys like kaya g and michael d, my score is really low. This is my first year, I’m 15, and hope to do better next year. I loved the American Math Challenge ( I was 14 then), and decided to try this. Levels 2 & 3 were the easiest for me, and Level 5 was BRUTAL! Looks like I have some work to do. I’ll tell my homeschool group to go over that kind of stuff.
Michael, are you Michael D of Georgia from the American Math Challenge? If so, then hey man.
I am almost done with Level 5, will post later. This is my first year, and I’m a bit disappointed with this, as compared to the Math Challenge.
Thanks Nathan!
And yes, I am 14. Hope to see you next year.
I am in 72nd right now. I am pretty sure I will stay in the HOF. I am very glad! And it looks like those top numbers worked out for you well.
Congrats again!
Michael D
Kaya,
Congratulations to you! It looks like you are the world champion again! I can’t wait to face you in the 14-18 group. The questions are SO MUCH HARDER.
Especially levels 4 and 5. But I am pretty sure you will get in the top ten.
Congrats again!
Michael D
Any way!Versing high school kids can be hard but as long as you try you might even beat the bigger kids!
Yes!! 43,007 points in 500 games for me. My records were:
Level 1 – 95
Level 2 – 91
Level 3 – 102
Level 4 – 98
Level 5 – 82
@Nathan Well in my case it cant be solved with teacher because our school doesn’t participate in WMD so i was is there any final list or something where i can found out in which place i finished
@Domagoj
Thank you, and well done for reaching your goal score. To see your final rank you could try asking your teacher, i remember back in 2008 when i didn’t appear on the hall of fame, i was told by my teacher and received an award for coming around 50th (can’t remember the exact number, was somewhere around 50) in my country.
So yeah, no guarantee you will get your rank but your best bet is probably asking your teacher in my opinion.
Thanks
Nathan
and i forgot to ask is there somehow you can see your final score i mean your final place
congratulations to nathan and michel good job (im here for 1st time) and i started very late so my goal was 4000 correct answers and i didi it after several hours
congratulations one more time
p.s. thanks for answer
Congratulations to all WMD participants for breaking last year’s world record of correctly answering 452,681,681 questions!
Here in Beijing, our Year 4s are hard at work keeping their class in the top 10 of the Ages 5-8 group. Go “Ng’s Numerators” Go!
Well done and thanks Michael, remember 27th in the world is still an amazing spot to finish up in (so is anywhere in the top 100 really) and you are only like 14 years old (sorry if i got the age wrong XD). You have the potential to be a world champion in the future, just keep practicing and hopefully in a year or so I will see you on top of the world
Congrats again and hopefully we meet again next World Math Day
All the best,
Nathan
Well, I am done; I finished off in 27th place
.
Congratulations to your successes Nathan, but remember, you are older than me
.
I am going to start practicing in February next year.
I hope I stay in the top 50 so I can receive a certificate!
Domagoj,
I think they are selected by the WMD staff, as far as i know you can’t apply (I would have done so already along with many others because it looks so awesome XD)
How can you become ambassador for your own country
Yep Ivan, play 100 level 1 games then u play 100 level 2, and so on. good luck and have fun
How do you get to level 2? Do you play 100 games first to get to each level?
WOW David A cannot be stopped XD
congrats to him on the score so far, and congrats to everyone for answering sugh a huge number of questions already.
Oh yeah, 6th on the HOF for the 14-18 group with 300 games finished!
Not playing anymore till tomorrow.
Kaya im like really fast aswell i really want to play against you but you are never on
. hope to play against you soon and please can you reply back x
Did we break the record in practice? Does anybody know?
Whoa! I think I got 104 in 10 games! Hey do you think that there will be a special WMD event but with like CN Characters or something? Since CN is a sponsor, they could put CN characters as practice players for more fun!
9 MINUTES! :O OMGOMGOMG. But I don’t think I’ll be able to go onto the leaderboard… Since I need to go sleep and school. T~T
Hey Ryan
Funny I dont remember playing you on Level 5 WMD!
But I do forget a lot of people I play… I have only been beaten 3 times in my life!!!
But yes I could have played you!!
Here are my records…quite similar to yours-
Age 9-13 WMD 2010
Level 1- 62
Level 2- 47 I know your record is 48 so I tried to beat my own but I was on my record 47 with 8 seconds left when……..I STRUCK OUT!!
Level 3- 82
Level 4- 68
Level 5- 48
Good Luck and all that what not!
Delano
Hello again. I like it how World Maths Day has age categories now but It’s weird how I sometimes might have to verse a High School person and I’m only 10. D: All wells. Anyway my high score is now 75!
I hold the Level 1 world record with 126. My Mathletics high scores are:
level 1 – 126
level 2 – 119
level 3 – 109
level 4 – 97
Level 5 – 86
